Storage startup BridgeSTOR announced its first appliance for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) Monday.
The latest addition to BridgeSTOR's Application Optimized Storage (AOS) appliance line enables SMBs running Microsoft's DPM to reduce their capacity requirements by as much as 90%,according to BridgeSTOR officials.
BridgeSTOR claims that the appliances provide users with a data reduction ratio of as much as 10:1.
"The BridgeSTOR AOS DPM appliance is configured and tuned for Microsoft DPM environments, achieving levels of capacity optimization previously experienced only with high-end backup data deduplication appliances," according to company officials.https://o1.qnsr.com/log/p.gif?;n=203;c=204650394;s=9477;x=7936;f=201801171506010;u=j;z=TIMESTAMP;a=20392931;e=i
DPM 2010 is a server application in Microsoft's System Center line of infrastructure management tools that provides disk- and tape-based data protection and recovery in and across Active Directory domains. DPM includes replication, synchronization, and recovery point creation for data protection and recovery.
Officially named BridgeSTOR AOS Appliances for Microsoft Data Protection Manager, BridgeSTOR's appliances combine data deduplication and compression to transform, for example, a 3.5TB physical disk into 35TB of virtual storage space. Likewise, it can be expanded to support a 10.5TB disk with a total of 105TB of virtual storage.
"BridgeSTOR is bringing budget relief to SMBs by shrinking their capacity requirements and storage expenditures," said BridgeStor CEO John Matze.
Microsoft's DPM comes pre-installed on the appliance, and provides protection for Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Hyper-V environments, along with desktops and laptops.
This is the third AOS appliance that BridgeSTOR has debuted in recent months. In November, the company introduced appliances for VMware and Symantec Backup Exec 2010.
The AOS appliance for DPM starts at $20,000, including Windows Server 8 and DPM licenses.
