New Program for Historical Tape Backups

Index Engines has announced a new Tape Assessment Program that the company claims will deliver a customized tape remediation plan to organizations storing large stockpiles of historical backup tapes. In its Business Wire news release, Index Engines says it will analyze the situation and will provide a customized Tape Assessment Proposal within 10 days.

"'Ignoring historical backup tapes is both a legal liability and an unnecessary storage expense,' said Jim McGann, VP of Information Discovery for Index Engines. 'This new Tape Assessment Program allows our clients to escape the risk of undiscovered data and reclaim the hefty part of their IT budget that is currently allocated to storing backup tapes.'

"The Tape Assessment Program involves a complimentary consultation between Index Engines’ technical experts and the legal and/or IT representative interested in a tape remediation project. After outlining information unique to the client environment, Index Engines will analyze the situation and will provide a customized Tape Assessment Proposal within 10 days. This plan will review how to implement a cost effective and efficient tape remediation project. Detailed ROI calculations will accompany this plan to clearly illustrate the money the organization will save, alongside reducing the risk of storing unknown data residing on backup tape."
