D-Link Announces New Storage Networking Solutions
D-Link has introduced a new series of high-capacity, energy-efficient iSCSI storage area network (SAN) arrays at Interop 2010. The DSN-5000 Series of xStack SAN Arrays are touted as data center storage networking solutions that offer high-availability (HA) configuration, future-proof capacity expansion, energy efficiency and system virtualization. As mentioned in this Earth Times news report, All models are built around a 10Gbit iSCSI System-on-a-Chip (SoC) that can handle more than 80,000 I/Os per second, and they are capable of sustained line speeds of up to 1,160 MB/s bandwidth.
"Available in three models: DSN-5110-10 (4 x 1GbE ports per controller), DSN-5210-10 (8 x 1GbE ports per controller) and DSN-5410-10 (1 x 10GbE port per controller), D-Link's new SAN storage solutions combine the power of HA failover and expandability up to 84 disk drives. They are designed to optimize disk-to-disk backup, archiving, video surveillance and other key applications.
"D-Link also offers free future firmware upgrades for the life of the SAN, alleviating users from having to pay hidden fees that are typical with storage expansion."
