CA Offers New Version of ARCserve Backup and Recovery

CA has introduced a new product and dozens of enhancements to existing ARCserve backup and recovery products. As mentioned on Infostor, the new product in the lineup is dubbed ARCserve D2D, a disk-to-disk backup package that provides block-level incremental backups to reduce backup windows and network traffic, as well as bare metal restores to dissimilar hardware.

"'Infinite Incremental backup allows users to take very quick snapshots of the server,' says Eric Pitcher, vice president of technology strategy in CA's Recovery Management business unit, 'and we only snapshot changed blocks, so the backups consume much less disk space.' The backups are application-consistent, and can occur as frequently as every 15 minutes."
