CA Rebrands Data Protection Software
CA Technologies, which was known more simply as CA, has revamped its data protection software by bringing several of its applications together as complete family of applications based around its ARCserve offering. According to this report on Channel Web, under the ARCserve name, CA Technologies also introduced a new disk-to-disk backup application with deduplication-like technology.
"CAs ARCserve revamp starts with ARCserve r15 itself, which now includes granular restoration of Microsoft (NSDQ:MSFT) Active Director and SharePoint data, enhanced storage resource management reporting, and agent support for Microsoft Exchange 2010, SharePoint 2010, and IBM (NYSE:IBM) Lotus Domino 8.5 for seamless backup across a broad range of platforms, Pitcher said. It also now allows SAN-based backups across Unix and Linux servers, he said.
""CAs previous XOsoft Replication application has been renamed CA ARCserve Replication r15, and now includes the ability to do replications offline to cut network bandwidth, the ability to balance network resources by replicating different types of data at different times, and the ability to replicate compressed and deduplicated files."
