Tandberg Data Ships LTO-5 Tape Line
Tandberg Data says the company is now shipping a full line of systems based on LTO-5 tape technology, ranging from entry-level autoloaders to 40-slot libraries. According to this report on Infostor, Tandberg's lineup includes write once, read many (WORM) technology and hardware-based 256-bit encryption.
"The entry-level StorageLoader has eight tape cartridge slots for up to 24TB of capacity, assuming 2:1 data compression. Pricing for the 1U autoloader starts at $5,200, with 1.5TB (native) LTO-5 tape cartridges priced at $120 (MSRP). LTO-5 tape drives have a native transfer rate of 140MBps.
"The StorageLibrary T24 library has 24 slots and up to 72TB of compressed capacity. Pricing starts at $6,195.
"The StorageLibrary T40+ has 24 to 40 tape cartridge slots and up to 120TB."
