Hitachi: Storage Virtualization Should Be Simple

Hitachi Data Systems vice-president and chief technology officer (CTO) Hu Yoshida says that Systems to enable virtualization of externally attached storage should be simple and relatively easy to de-virtualize external storage if required. Also noted in this report on Zycko is that there are a number of ways in which complexity might be added to a storage network - and that these should be avoided if possible.


"For instance, he notes some virtualization solutions may require three separate zones to be created across a networking environment that is already complicated.

"'Also many applications are intertwined through the data and coordinated through scripting or large consistency groups, which further complicates things,' he adds."
