Storage Vendors Ease Cloud Storage Transition
According to Venture Capital Dispatch, companies offering cloud-storage services still face significant challenges in terms of convincing enterprises to adopt this relatively new technology. Although costs have come down, companies are still worried about the security of sensitive data and the time involved in implementing a cloud storage solution. There are numerous companies, however, that are implementing solutions to make cloud storage more secure and easier to adopt.
"All three companies products have roughly similar features to help businesses get past the security, bandwidth, and vendor lock-in issues around cloud storage. For example, the Nasuni Filer appliance, which began selling in May, encrypts data before it leaves a customers walls, so it matters less if that data is hacked or lost by the service provider. It also uses a companys existing storage system as a cache for the most frequently used data, avoiding bloated bandwidth charges that a company can incur from constantly accessing data stored with a service provider. And it gives customers the option of using several service providers, avoiding the problems that can come with using one that shuts down.
