Microsemi SSD Storage Device
Microsemi Corp. says it is set to develop and bring to market its TRRUST-Stor secure storage device, an SSD designed from the ground up for use in the aerospace, defense and military sectors. As noted on EEE Times, the device targets mission-critical applications, such as surveillance, data recorders, field computers, digital map storage, avionics and GPS/communications systems.
"The SSD gives the user a hardware-based implementation of AES-256 encryption with XTS. Hardware-based authentication enables even higher levels of security. Its so-called 'TRRUST-Purge' technology erases the keys in less than 30ms, rendering data forensically unrecoverable.
"Manufactured in the U.S. by a DoD-trusted facility, the SSD is said to withstand up to 1700G shock and 30Grms of vibration. Leveraging Microsemi's Armor flash management processor and IP, product obsolescence is mitigated while allowing for differentiation and customization, according to the analogue and mixed-signal chipmaker."
