LSI Logic Corporation today announced it has begun shipping production samples of the market’s first PCI SCSI RAID storage adapters with Ultra320 support.

LSI Logic is a leading supplier of host-based RAID to the global PC and server markets with nearly two million RAID solutions shipped to OEMs, ODMs, system integrators and resellers worldwide. Powered by a proven firmware engine and common interface across its product lines, LSI Logic services customers with a complete spectrum of PCI-RAID solutions ranging from: highly integrated RAID on motherboard (ROMB) and RAID on Chip (ROC) technologies to high-performance host-based SCSI, Serial ATA and ATA RAID adapters.

Through support for 64-bit addressing, a robust RAID feature set, and advanced fault tolerance, memory, and caching policies, LSI Logic Ultra320 MegaRAID(R) solutions deliver enterprise-class data throughput, fault tolerant capabilities, and easy-to-use management utilities that are essential in both high-end servers and workstations where performance, reliability and availability are essential.

This first-to-market family of Ultra320 RAID solutions will include the zero-channel MegaRAID SCSI 320-0, the single-channel MegaRAID SCSI 320-1 and the dual-channel MegaRAID SCSI 320-2.

Designed with a low-profile (MD2) form factor for tight enclosure environments, the MegaRAID SCSI 320-0 and MegaRAID SCSI 320-1 incorporate high-performance I/O processor-based technology, and are ideal for demanding, yet cost sensitive server I/O environments. The half-size, dual channel MegaRAID SCSI 320-2, featuring the LSI Logic LSI53C1030 dual-channel Ultra320 SCSI controller, targets high-performance mid-range servers and I/O intensive workstation environments.

“These new Ultra320 SCSI products are targeted at the critical need for high-performance PCI RAID solutions for server and workstation environments,” said Phil Bullinger, vice president and general manager of the LSI Logic RAID Storage Adapters Division. “As in the past, LSI Logic’s first-to-market leadership and proven technology is giving the industry’s systems manufacturers the solutions they require to drive new levels of system performance, reliability and availability.”
