Qualstar Updates TLS-4000 Tape Library

Qualstar Corporation has begun shipping its TLS-4000 Tape Library Family with Sony Corporation’s third-generation Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT-3) drives, doubling both capacity and performance of the TLS-4000 Family.

The company said the TLS/AIT combination enables companies to backup and restore data at transfer speeds up to 1.2 terabytes per hour. The TLS-4000 family consists of 12 models that span capacities from 400 gigabytes to over 150 terabytes.

“Qualstar has been a trusted partner in introducing AIT technology to the marketplace,” said Steve Baker, vice president of marketing for the tape storage solutions division of Sony Electronics’ Core Technology Solutions Company. “AIT-3 technology offers customers real answers to their data protection needs, and Qualstar has earned its reputation by providing companies with reliable and cost-effective solutions that leverage AIT’s significant performance and capacity benefits.”

Qualstar’s TLS-4000 automated tape libraries with AIT-3 drives are available now. Existing TLS-4000 library customers can upgraded to AIT-3 by contracting Qualstar.
