Emulex (NYSE: ELX) unveiled its answer for data storage security with HBA-based encryption, including a deal with EMC (NYSE: EMC) to offer the HBAs with its PowerPath Encryption with RSA and Clariion and Celerra storage arrays. Brandon Hoff, Emulex's product line manager for I/O services, said HBA-based encryption offers a fraction of the cost and complexity of other encryption approaches, and it will be added in the future to the company's CNAs. Emulex is also working with IBM (NYSE: IBM) and other vendors to offer the technology. The cards are two to three times more expensive than standard HBAs, but still cheaper than other encryption approaches, said Hoff.
ParaScale also addressed storage security, adding keyless encryption to its clustered cloud storage software. Other new features include greater data integrity and multi-tenant FTP support.
TwinStrata is also promising enterprise-class cloud storage with its CloudArray offering, including management of data across public and private clouds.
