Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) has recently announced its intent to acquire cloud-based medical archiving leader InSite One. The InSite One solution helps customers reduce costs associated with long-term data storage and migration, provide off-site disaster recovery services and eliminate one of the biggest shortcomings in healthcare today—the sharing of images between medical professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

As reported in this Dell announcement, the acquisition is a strategic transaction for Dell -- allowing the company to extend its Unified Clinical Archiving (UCA) solution to include Cloud capabilities. InSite One expands Dell’s existing UCA solution for healthcare organizations by adding private cloud archive and storage-as-a-service to its portfolio.

"As a result of the acquisition, Dell will be able to provide healthcare customers with a secure, scalable, cloud-based, unified medical archive solution that supports our customer’s HIPAA compliance.

"The acquisition of InSite One expands Dell’s existing UCA solution for healthcare organizations by adding 'private cloud archive' and 'storage-as-a-service' to our portfolio.

"Additionally, InSite One gives us a platform to help customers in other industries, like the petroleum and industrial sectors, manage and archive rich digital content in a secure and efficient manner."
