Sun, Deloitte Extend Alliance

Sun Microsystems Inc. and Deloitte Consulting L.P. today announced a new Global Solutions Alliance to extend their five-year relationship and add new customer-focused enterprise-wide solutions.

This alliance is intended to deliver tested, pre-integrated vertical and horizontal solutions that could help customers speed implementation, and, ultimately, reduce total cost of ownership.

Sun and Deloitte Consulting will initially collaborate to deliver new and update existing solutions based on Sun StorEdge Complete Storage Solutions, the Sun Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) architecture, and tested network identity solutions, beginning with Deloitte & Touche's i-MAAP (Identity Management, Authentication, Authorization and Protection).

Through their collaboration, Sun and Deloitte Consulting expect to deliver targeted solutions that address major storage-specific requirements including storage area networks (SAN), data continuance, data and storage consolidation, and high-performance computing for applications throughout the enterprise. These select solutions will provide customers with a secure data continuance environment, service levels that are matched to the application, and a lower total cost of ownership, while focusing on bottom line results.

Deloitte Consulting plans to develop an in-house specialization on Sun ONE, Sun's vision, architecture, platform and expertise for building and deploying services on demand to create open, standards-based and integratable solutions.
