VERITAS Supports Oracle9i Real Application Clusters

VeritasSoftware Corporation announced it has committed to deliver new storage virtualization technology for the Oracle's Oracle9i Database with Real Application Clusters market during the second quarter of 2002. Veritas said Veritas Database Edition/Advanced Cluster(TM) for Oracle will help companies better manage the performance and reliability of critical applications running across database clustering technology from Oracle.

"Oracle9i Real Application Cluster technology was born out of an engineering vision based upon the future of data management, and its delivery helps customers meet stringent uptime requirements," said Juan Jones, vice president, System Platforms Division, Oracle Corporation. "Combining Oracle9i Real Application Clusters technology with VERITAS Database Edition/Advanced Cluster for Oracle will provide customers with a single platform to meet those requirements across mixed storage environments."

According to Veritas, its storage virtualization technology provides Oracle9i Database with online configuration of storage, file system manageability and storage hardware independence, ensuring the ongoing availability of Oracle(R) database applications, and includes cluster file system technology that streamlines the administration of Oracle9i Database applications.
