During an event in New York yesterday, VERITAS outlined the next phase in its strategy to lead the Linux storage market, with the unveiling of new products, industry partnerships and contributions to the Linux open source community. Specifically, VERITAS announced the availability of its clustering and NAS software for Linux, bringing management capabilities to Linux, and expanding the industry’s most complete selection of Linux-based storage software. The company also announced a series of initiatives to bring Linux solutions to market with key companies, including Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, and Red Hat.
“We view Linux as a strategic platform with immense growth opportunity,” said Gary Bloom, chairman, president and CEO, VERITAS Software. “No other vendor can match the breadth of our storage software on Linux.”
VERITAS’ Linux offerings include Cluster Server, the No. 1 clustering software solution in the market, ServPoint NAS software, VERITAS Foundation Suite and NetBackup. The products are currently supported on the Red Hat Advanced Server operating system.

The company’s Linux product strategy includes the development of products for clustered database environments running on Linux and working to bring storage and clustering management software to Oracle9i Real Application Clusters on Linux in 2003. VERITAS Software is also working with Dell, HP, IBM and Intel on Linux initiatives.
