Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced the availability of BrightStor Enterprise Backup, the first product made available in the company's new BrightStor storage family of solutions. According to the company, BrightStor Enterprise Backup has been benchmarked at a full 1.56 terabytes-per-hour of "hot" online backup.

"BrightStor Enterprise Backup builds upon CA's 25 years of experience in delivering high-performance storage solutions to our customers," said CA President and CEO Sanjay Kumar. "This innovative solution is proof-positive that CA remains the unquestioned leader in eBusiness storage for even the most complex computing environments."

CA says thatBrightStor Enterprise Backup provides:

-- Scalable support for a complete range of platforms, applications,
databases and storage systems, including Network Attached Storage (NAS)
devices and Storage Area Networks (SAN) on Windows NT/2000 and UNIX.
-- Cost-reducing manageability via a highly intuitive GUI and cross
platform domain architecture that make it easy for administrators to
implement effective, consistent backup policies across complex
       enterprise environments.
-- Integration with leading applications and storage technologies, such as
       EMC's TimeFinder.

CA also says that BrightStor Enterprise Backup can perform relational database backup in "serverless" mode over SANs and the ability to dynamically share tape drives between Windows and UNIX servers in a SAN, as well as complete bare metal disk-based disaster recovery for UNIX.

BrightStor Enterprise Backup is certified in multiple languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
