Vicom and QLogic Parnter On Turnkey Storage Virtualization

Vicom Systems, Inc., a storage virtualization vendor and QLogic Corp., a storage area network (SAN) infrastructure provider, today announced their intention to jointly deploy turnkey storage virtualization products for enterprise storage environments.

As part of the strategic relationship, Vicom and QLogic plan to:

-- Cross-certify the Vicom Storage Virtualization Engine (SVE) with QLogic
SANbox(TM) switches and SANblade(TM) host bus adapters (HBAs)
-- Integrate future products into complete storage virtualization
       solutions
-- Provide storage virtualization education to the IT community
-- Promote industry standards for storage virtualization

"We are pleased to form this alliance with QLogic, a proven and effective SAN infrastructure provider," said David Lamont, vice president of marketing, Vicom Systems. "This partnership will allow Vicom to better serve customers by simplifying the complexities found in enterprise SAN environments, as part of our effort to drive open standards and interoperability in Fibre Channel SANs. The Vicom SVE solution provides storage administrators with proven interoperability performance for heterogeneous host servers and storage systems, creating a powerful multi-vendor SAN solution with QLogic's SANbox switches and SANblade HBAs."

"Storage virtualization is the new SAN killer app, promising to simplify management of heterogeneous SANs," said Frank Berry, vice president of corporate marketing, QLogic Corp. "Vicom is a clear leader in this field with their SVE solution, and our alliance with them is important to QLogic's future success in serving the needs of our enterprise storage customers."
