Storage vendor Raidtec today announced the release of the SNAZ(TM) R6, 2U Rack mount filer, which Raidtec's says enables organizations to add network attached storage (NAS) via Ethernet attached SCSI now and expand capacity and connectivity with a simple upgrade into a Fibre Channel storage area network (SAN) later.

According to Raidtec, SNAZ R6 is a file server that plugs directly into an Ethernet switch on the Local Area Network (LAN). It acts as a LAN File Server; serving multi-protocol files to heterogeneous clients, with up to 430GB of local hot swap RAID protected storage.

Orla Donohoe of Raidtec Corporation said, "It is ideally suited for Internet and intranet's, ISP, e-commerce, web filer, departmental server, and virtually any distributed file or data sharing application. Featuring high I/Os and high data throughput, the SNAZ R6 is the next step for those who wish to simply and easily expand their data storage and file serving capacity."

Pricing for the SNAZ R6 starts at $3,995.
