Network Appliance to Support Data From Deep-Space
Networked attached storage vendor Network Appliance, Inc. today announced that NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory is upgrading and expanding its network infrastructure with Network Appliance(TM) storage solutions.
According to Network Appliance, the solution enables on-demand public access to massive amounts of astrophysical research information and data from the observatory's networked archive, enabling people around the globe to experiment and explore newly discovered corners of deep space.

The Chandra X-ray Center, which provides public access to its archive of data, receives and records observations of X-rays from high-energy regions of the universe via the orbiting Chandra X-Ray Telescope. The Chandra X-ray Observatory accumulates massive volumes of data with each experiment, placing network scalability and reliability as foremost concerns in a high-growth condition.
