StoreAge is a "Star" in Spain

StoreAge Networking Technologies, which develops storage technology and products with a focus on Storage Area Network (SAN) architecture, announced today an agreement with Telecinco, the leading Spanish broadcasting company, to deploy its Storage Virtualization Manager in Madrid's video editing center.

The deployment is effected with the active assistance of QUISAR Informatica, S.A., a San Solutions company, StoreAge's strategic partner in Spain. The driving factor for this decision was Telecinco's performance requirements from its Video Editing system. The system provides numerous editing stations simultaneous access to a common video database.

An editing software package operates in an IBM SANergy environment using a mix of NT and Windows 2000 servers. In order to meet the performance needs of the system, it was absolutely necessary that volumes containing video data will be striped over several RAID sub-systems aggregating not just the capacity of these storage devices but also the performance of several RAID controllers.

StoreAge's SVM and its asymmetric virtualization technology, enables this configuration at a fraction of the cost of alternative solutions which had to include extremely powerful RAID devices. The SVM provides high-speed volumes to be used by the SAN file system to deliver real time multiple video streams to the editing stations.

StoreAge and San Solutions will be exhibiting the SVM in the Storage Networking World conference at Seville, Spain September 10-12.
