Snap Appliances(TM)today announced the first shipment of its terabyte-class NAS solution -- the Snap Server(R) 12000, which offers 960GB of capacity in a three unit rack-mountable configuration. It is Snap's highest capacity NAS device.

According to Snap, the new NAS server is ideal for business-critical storage in demanding IT environments, such as large corporate workgroups and departments. In additon, Snap said the Snap Server 12000 is designed to offer customers a more cost-effective alternative to large NT-class servers and SCSI-Attached RAID.

"The Snap Server 12000 is designed to meet growing customer demand for storage solutions with a low total cost of ownership," said Ray Robidoux, president of Snap Appliances. "Snap Appliances has combined the inherent ease of use, which users have come to expect from the Snap Server product line, with added redundancy and hot swap features, plus nearly a terabyte of storage capacity, all at an extremely attractive price point."

The Snap Server 12000 has an MSRP of $14,999.
