Atempo Archiving Now Supports Linear Tape File System (LTFS)
Atempo has announced that Atempo Digital Archive (ADA), the company's file archiving solution for businesses, is now fully compatible with the Linear Tape File System (LTFS) platform, an open-source data format that provides a file system interface to data stored on LTO-5 tape media. As noted in this MarketWatch news release, the integration enables creative professionals to leverage ADA for intelligent, policy-driven data management and LTFS, a proven, flexible tape-based archiving platform to support project-level archiving and exchange at the end of post-production.
"By using an intuitive file system written directly to tape, LTFS technology makes LTO-5 tape as accessible as disk and allows creative professionals to effortlessly store, access and transfer digital assets, regardless of the media it resides on, while increasing the long-term readability of files stored on tape. Atempo's added layer of intelligence empowers businesses to effectively manage data and its associated metadata throughout the data lifecycle: from online storage, to nearline, to archive; and businesses are guaranteed that files are available immediately and preserved for years to come."
