Dot Hill Enhances AssuredSAN 3000 Series Storage Array

Information Week reports that Dot Hill Systems has updated its entry-level storage array to include 3-terabyte disk drives. Offering support for 8-Gb Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs) and 10-Gb iSCSI, the AssuredSAN 3000 Series storage array enhancements include drive spin-down capability and a 595-watt 80 PLUS-rated power supplies. In addition, the products also support mixed-drive configurations, including serial attached SCSI (SAS), serial ATA (SATA), and solid-state drive (SSD).


 


"'The thing with being an OEM supplier is that it forces us to be on the cutting edge,' said Jim Jonez, senior marketing director for Dot Hill Systems, in an interview. 'We have to be a technology leader to be competitive as an OEM supplier. So this announcement today is that we are one of the first to bring this drive technology into this class of storage.'"
