Nimbus Launches Network Flash Memory Storage System

Nimbus Data Systems, Inc. has announced the availability of its second generation S-Class series of flash memory storage systems.The SSD provider for next-generation data centers, PR Newswire reports, has released a line that retains the S-Class designation and says is three times faster than the original.

The new S-Class also adds support for Fibre Channel and Infiniband networking natively, in addition to the existing 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet support. Nimbus claims the new S-Class is the most versatile network flash memory systems on the market today.

EBay has also announced it has deployed more than 100 terabytes of Nimbus S-Class flash memory to power its VMware virtual server infrastructure. It is among the world's largest consolidated deployment of network-attached flash storage for virtualization today.
