Veeam Backup Targets Virtualized Environments
Veeam Backup and Replication v6 includes enhanced distributed architecture to streamline deployment and maintenance. As reported on ComputerWorld UK, Veeam’s product also uses a system known as vPower, which runs virtual machines directly from a compressed and deduplicated backup file. As with the previous versions, v6 offers multi-hypervisor support, including for Microsoft Hyper-V.
"Veeam claimed it was the 'first vendor' to deliver protection capabilities in the virtualized environment at a level that matched traditional file-based backups.
"Backup & Replication v6 includes enhanced distributed architecture to streamline deployment and maintenance, and therefore to increase scalability. The aim is also to improve maintenance of remote office installations and to speed the backup and replication over wide area networks."
