Adaptec, Inc., today announced it is showcasing iSCSI solutions at Fall Comdex this week.
Adaptec said it will illustrate the immediate benefits provided by IP Storage solutions through a remote mirroring and shared data access demonstration using iSCSI technology. According to the company, the solution demonstrates total storage availability by enabling data to be transmitted and accessed simultaneously between all servers and storage devices in iSCSI and Fibre Channel SANs. The demonstration will also highlight interoperability with iSCSI products from storage leaders Cisco Systems, IBM, ADIC and Eurologic."Our demonstration not only illustrates iSCSI technology solving real problems, but it also shows the hard work that Adaptec and industry leaders like Cisco, ADIC and Eurologic are investing to ensure interoperability in this rapidly growing space," stated Ram Jayam, vice president and general manager of Adaptec's Storage Networking Group. "iSCSI technology has come a long way, and the fact Adaptec is now demonstrating the technology in real-world applications, where our competitors are still developing technology in labs, illustrates the true extent of our market leadership."
In the demonstration, Adaptec's ASIC-based ASA-7211 iSCSI host bus adapter and a Cisco SN 5420 Storage Router will take iSCSI data from the iSCSI SAN, convert it to Fibre Channel, and route it to a server in a Fibre Channel SAN being supported by an Adaptec DuraStor 7220SS Fibre Channel external storage subsystem. Data from the iSCSI SAN will be mirrored to the DuraStor subsystem and the data on the DuraStor subsystem will be accessible from all servers in the network. A Eurologic iSCSI-enabled network storage device will facilitate access to information on the iSCSI side of the demonstration. In addition, ADIC's CentraVision File Sharing software, the industry's first working file system for iSCSI, will support true SAN file sharing over an IP network for collaborative workflow.
