EMC / RSA Targets IT GRC with Acquisition of Archer

GRC is hot news in CIO and top management circles these days. EMC is positioning itself to expand into that market with the acquisition of Archer coupled with existing elements of its EMC/RSA portfolio.

"In January 2010 EMC Corporation announced its acquisition of Archer Technologies, with the intent to couple Archer's IT GRC capabilities (Archer SmartSuite Framework) with existing solutions in the EMC / RSA portfolio – including data discovery, classification, monitoring and filtering for data loss prevention (RSA DLP Suite), security information and event management (RSA enVision), configuration and change management (EMC Ionix), and IT Security and IT GRC consulting capabilities (EMC Global Services). Aberdeen's research on "IT GRC: Managing Risk, Improving Visibility, and Reducing Operating Costs" (May 2009) showed that the enabling technologies in the EMC / RSA pre-acquisition portfolio are already being used in the IT GRC initiatives of a majority of the top performers; the EMC / RSA acquisition of Archer's IT GRC platform and ecosystem is evidence of forward-looking thinking and responsiveness based on the input of their most advanced customers."
