Raidtec Launches New 1U NAS File Server

Raidtec today announced a new addition to its NAS family of File Server Appliances – the SNAZ E4. The E4 is a high performance Gigabit Ethernet full-featured file server for simultaneous support of Windows and Unix/Linux client computers on a LAN. The system is optimized for workgroup and departmental installations with hot removable/hot spare ATA drives in 320GB, 480GB, 640GB and 1TB capacities. LVD SCSI or Fibre Channel SAN options are available. 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet LAN connections, in addition to LVD SCSI for backup devices are standard.

“SNAZ E4 will enable IT departments to simply and economically add storage to the Local Area Network (LAN) in a non-disruptive way. A server license for FlashLinux, Raidtec’s industry leading embedded NAS Operating System is included,” said Noel May, CEO Raidtec Corporation.

  • Embedded Server Appliance — Full featured network File Server Appliance with single or dual 1GHz Pentium processor, 32MB Flash memory for operating system, up to 2GB RAM memory, Gigabit Ethernet port, 10/100Mbit Ethernet port, two serial ports (one dedicated to UPS), 2 LVD SCSI ports, optional dual hot swap PSU’s, 4 ATA drives, packaged in a 1U rack mount system
  • FlashLinux Software — Raidtec’s Flash embedded NAS-optimized operating system software, fully upgradeable via web download
  • Web Browser Administration — Simple point and click graphical user interface for setup, monitoring and administration
  • CIFS and NFS support– Allows simultaneous heterogeneous access for Windows, UNIX and Macintosh users
  • RAID Fault Tolerant Support — Easy to use Volume Management allows up to 8 RAID sets, each RAID set can have a unique RAID level (0, 1, 10, 5) and Hot Spare assignment and optional dual redundant PSUs
  • High Performance — Up to 300 Mb/ sec with RAID striping and Gigabit Ethernet network connection. The XFS Journaling file system provides high performance with massive scalability and high-speed recovery
  • Integrated Tape Backup Software — Allows local system backup without degrading network performance. Internal and external LVD SCSI support available for a wide variety of tape devices and Autoloaders
  • Enhanced Microsoft Network Compatibility and Security — Access Control List (ACL) support and Quota support
  • Compact Size — Provides up to 1TB of networked storage in a 1U rackmount appliance

    MSRP’s for the SNAZ range from $4,200 to $6,700 for 320GB to 1TB data storage capacity configurations. The products are available immediately.
