Compaq Computer Corp. has selected the Emulex LightPulse LP952L Fibre Channel host bus adapter for its StorageWorks storage area network (SAN) solutions that use its new external 2Gbit Fibre Channel storage products -- the StorageWorks Modular SAN Array 1000 and Enterprise Virtual Array.
"Compaq's decision to integrate Emulex's LP952L HBAs into our new series of storage systems is based on its robust performance, rich feature set and highly scalable architecture," said Roger Archibald, vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Storage Array Group at Compaq. "We chose Emulex HBAs once again because we are confident in their ability to provide the reliable connectivity solutions that customers have come to expect from StorageWorks by Compaq."
According to Emulex, the Emulex LP952L low profile HBA supports 64 bit, 66MHz PCI transfers and operates at up to 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates. In additon, it offers auto speed negotiation, a function that enables the host bus adapter to automatically sense the network's maximum speed and adapt accordingly, while maintaining full backwards compatibility with 1Gb/s Fibre Channel installations.
