Network Appliance, a provider of enterprise network storage solutions, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a European computer company, have successfully completed testing of NetAppfilers with the Solaris/SPARC-based PRIMEPOWER server platform from Fujitsu Siemens Computers for Oracle9i with Real Application Clusters.

The companies said coupling these technologies enables enterprise customers to deploy a complete Oracle clustered database solution that delivers data availability, advanced management functionality, and a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

“The validation of Fujitsu Siemens with Network Appliance storage for Oracle9i with Real Application Clusters gives customers more flexibility in deciding what storage options they’d like to deploy in a Solaris clustered environment,” said Doug Kennedy, vice president, Platform Partnerships at Oracle. “Customers can benefit from the promise of high availability and scalability delivered by Oracle9i with Real Application Clusters, combined with a robust Fujitsu PrimePower platform and the easy-to-use management features inherent in the Network Appliance filer architecture.”

According to Network Appliance and Fujitsu Siemens, this architecture marks the first Oracle9i with Real Application Clusters supported solution for Solaris environments with filer storage from Network Appliance. The architecture will be available to customers as either bundled, “out-of- the-box,” or as individual components to complement existing infrastructures. Network Appliance and Fujitsu Siemens Computers are also collaborating on an early customer adoption program.
