Raidtec Launches NAS File Server

Raidtec has announced a new addition to its NAS family of File Server Appliances. The SNAZ-E6 is a high performance Gigabit Ethernet, full featured file server for simultaneous support of Windows and Unix/Linux client computers on a LAN. SNAZ E6 is optimized for workgroup and departmental installations and is available with 480GB, 720GB or 960GB of storage capacity with Hot removable and Hot spare ATA drives and further expansion options through LVD SCSI or Fibre Channel SAN. Featuring 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet LAN connections as standard and LVD SCSI for backup devices, SNAZ E6 provides over 300Mb a second sustained data throughput to accommodate today’s busiest networks.

“SNAZ E6 will enable IT Departments to simply and economically add storage to the Local Area Network (LAN) in a non-disruptive way and at a cost of only $0.1c per megabyte for the 960GB model. A site license for FlashLinux, Raidtec’s embedded NAS Operating System is included,” said Noel May, CEO Raidtec Corporation.

Key features of the SNAZ E6 include;

  • Embedded Server Appliance – Full featured network File Server appliance with single or dual 1GHz Pentium processor, 32MB Flash for Operating System, up to 2GB memory, Gigabit Ethernet port, 10/100Mbit Ethernet port, two serial ports (one dedicated to UPS), 2 LVD SCSI, dual Hot swap PSU’s and 6 ATA drives, packaged in a 2U rack mount system.
  • FlashLinux(R) Software – Raidtec’s Flash embedded NAS-optimized operating system software, fully upgradeable via web download
  • Web Browser Administration – Installs in minutes, simple point and click graphical user interface for setup, monitoring and administration
  • Windows CIFS and UNIX NFS – Allows simultaneous heterogeneous access for Windows, UNIX and Macintosh users
  • RAID Support – Easy to use Volume Management allows up to 6 RAID sets, each RAID set can have a unique RAID level (0, 1, 10, 5) and Hot Spare assignment. Hot removable drives and dual redundant PSU’s.
