LSI Logic Corporation’s 2 Gbit/s host bus adapters (HBAs) have been certified for use with SANavigator’s storage area network (SAN) software, a multi-platform Java-based SAN management application.

Testing by the two companies confirmed that the LSI Logic Fibre Channel HBAs, the LSI40919O and LSI40929O, are now supported by SANavigator’s AutoDiscovery topology mapping function. Additionally, SANavigator and LSI Logic said they will continue to work together to extend the amount of information provided by HBAs to the SANavigator management application.

“SAN interoperability is a major customer concern with SAN technology,” said Robert Wright, General Manager of SANavigator Inc. “Certifications such as the one with LSI Logic help end users determine which companies are advancing the pursuit of the fully functional SAN and offer the technology leadership to accomplish it. LSI Logic and SANavigator certainly meet that description.”

SANavigator said SANavigator 2.5.1 is a Java-based storage management application that operates as a host for other storage management applications, utilities and tools from major storage vendors, and includes an Auto Discovery feature that performs a complete inventory of all SAN resources.

According to LSI Logic, its HBAs support the SNIA (Storage Network Industry Association) HBA Application Programming Interface (API). This API extends the interoperability and manageability of storage networks by providing a standard interface to access information across Fibre Channel networks.
