Auspex Systems, a provider of enterprise storage solutions, said it plans to deploy InfiniBand technology to enhance the performance and scalability of its NS3000 series of network servers and data management appliances.

According to Auspex, it will deliver InfiniBand functionality based on semiconductors provided by Mellanox Technologies, a silicon supplier of InfiniBand devices. In addition, Auspex has joined the InfiniBand Trade Association, a consortium that developed the new interconnect standard.

Auspex said it is using InfiniBand interconnect technology to speed inter- processor communication inside its servers and appliances. The compay said faster data throughput and other performance improvements will be achieved through the technology’s improved utilization of the 64-bit bus, reduced load on the host processor, and the efficient message routing of InfiniBand’s point-to-point topology.
