FalconStor and Acer have announced a global OEM partnership which will see Acer embed FalconStor’s IPStor software into selected Acer Altos servers.
Acer’s Altos storage solutions consist of high performance servers designed for a wide range of business applications. The integration of FalconStor’s IPStor software will allow Acer to offer features such as high availability, snapshot, near-line disk-based backup/recovery, zero-impact backup and replication over Fibre Channel and IP/iSCSI, with the highest level of reliability and availability.
“Acer and FalconStor are both committed to delivering comprehensive IT storage solutions, with continuous availability and access to large volumes of vital corporate information,” said Jim Wong, president, IT Products Business Group of Acer, Inc. “Acer’s storage server products will be able to provide reliable and cost-effective enterprise storage solutions to small and midsize businesses around the world.
“Acer understands that the data of an organization is important, regardless of how large or small the business. Acer’s storage server solution caters to different sized businesses with its open architecture, consolidating application servers and multiple physical disk resources. It also leverages the existing IT infrastructure by enabling any existing storage system to be combined with new storage to create a high performance storage area network that offers both access for high performance storage as well as for file-sharing purposes,” continues Wong.
