"Overall, the combination of features in the DS10000 introduces a new level of performance, scalability, and flexibility that we have not seen from any other vendor, including McData, Cisco, or Brocade," gushes Nancy Marrone, senior analyst at Enterprise Storage Group.
With its dynamic partitioning, scalability, and an open storage services platform, "the Sanera DS10000 opens new opportunities for SANs as a strategic business tool," states Sanera President and CEO Larry Sanders. "Whether consolidating SANs, deploying large enterprise fabrics, or integrating intelligent storage services, the DS10000 significantly lowers storage networking costs and dramatically reduces SAN complexity."
Sanera contends the DS10000 is the only product that enables enterprises to consolidate SAN islands and integrate intelligent storage utility services on one platform, which lowers cost and simplifies SAN management. With up to 256 non-blocking 2Gbps ports or up to 64 10Gbps ports per chassis, the DS10000 enables SAN consolidation, large fabric deployment, and in-network storage services integration. The dynamic partitioning feature allows enterprises to consolidate SANs into a single system while maintaining the administrative autonomy and security of independent SAN islands, according to Sanera.https://o1.qnsr.com/log/p.gif?;n=203;c=204660765;s=10655;x=7936;f=201812281308090;u=j;z=TIMESTAMP;a=20400368;e=iThe director provides "five-nines" (99.999%) availability with full hardware redundancy and non-disruptive code load and activation, and includes native multiprotocol support for Fibre Channel, Ethernet/iSCSI, and FICON.
The DS10000's "nscale dynamic partitions" eliminate device proliferation and adapt to the way enterprises deploy and manage applications. Using nscale partitions, multiple smaller SANs can be deployed by department, application, or protocol as independent "virtual directors" on the same system. Sanera says the partitions provide the most secure method of hosting multiple applications by separating data, control, and management traffic. Each partition includes separate management, fabric services, user login, and access control lists.
At the core of the DS10000 is the nscale architecture, delivering ASIC, software, and systems technologies. The nscale technologies enable the DS10000 to scale ports, fabrics, bandwidth, and storage services across all applications in the data center, regardless of fabric size, availability, or throughput requirements, creating SAN architectures that are "dramatically more cost effective than legacy designs."
Currently in field trials, the DS10000 will be formally available for beta customers next month.
With all that performance, one would think they'd at least own the Sanera.com domain name; instead, the company can be found at Sanera.net.
