Computer Associates International (CA) has announced availability of Version 9 of BrightStor ARCserve Backup for NetWare. In its release, the company emphasized simplified licensing and aggressive pricing.

BrightStor ARCserve Backup for NetWare provides support for NetWare 6 environments, including Open File Agent technology that delivers “Copy on Write” functionality, which enables data to be continually protected — even while applications are in use.

“NetWare continues to be an integral component of our customers’ enterprise computing environments, so CA is continuing to deliver innovative storage solutions that meet their evolving needs,” said CA’s senior vice president of BrightStor solutions Nigel Turner.

Starting at a base price of $695, BrightStor ARCserve Backup allows customers to build data protection systems for many distributed, heterogeneous environments. BrightStor ARCserve Backup for NetWare allows data from Novell NetWare, Microsoft Windows, Linux and UNIX servers to be backed up to a Novell NetWare server.

BrightStor ARCserve Backup for NetWare integrates seamlessly with the recently released Windows version. BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Linux, currently in beta testing and scheduled for early 2003 general availability, will offer similar integration.
