BMC Software and Dell have announced a global enterprise agreement in which Dell plans to standardize on BMC Software enterprise management solutions for Dell’s internal systems.

“Dell continues to leverage technology to gain efficiency throughout our enterprise and enhance our ability to provide the best customer experience in the technology industry,” said Michael Dell, Dell chairman and chief executive officer. “BMC software enables us to further reduce operating costs and continue to maintain high availability, two key components that help us deliver the value and service that our customers deserve.”

The BMC solutions are also part of the Dell Intelligent IT portfolio, Dell’s cross platform initiative that includes software tools, services and partnerships to deliver comprehensive systems management offerings.

Prior to its agreement with BMC Software, Dell relied on various solutions from multiple systems management vendors to manage its highly complex IT environment. BMC says that its solutions will further enable Dell to consolidate its IT infrastructure, reduce training costs, lessen its reliance on manual technical support for point solutions, and offer an overall reduction in support costs by delivering faster resolutions to enterprise management.

“Dell leverages open-standard and -source technology to support our growing $32 billion enterprise,” said Randy Mott, Dell Sr. VP and CIO. “As we continue to scale our systems globally and build clusters that support high- transaction applications, BMC Software solutions will further enable us to fully automate the monitoring and management of these systems, maintain high systems availability and reduce our I/T costs. Out of the many solution choices available to us, we believe that BMC is the provider that can support our continued growth.”

Last year, BMC Software successfully delivered solutions and services to automate systems management and monitoring of Dell data center operations in Europe, which was a driving factor behind this global enterprise agreement.

“Dell has undertaken an incredibly detailed review process of the relevant BMC Software technologies it plans to implement,” said Bob Beauchamp, President and CEO, BMC Software. “Dell’s I/T group will continue to evaluate new products as we deliver them. Their thorough review further validates the superiority of our management solutions and we look forward to ensuring that all of the components of their global enterprise are performing at optimal levels.”
