EMC has announced the acquisition of Prisa Networks, a privately held supplier of SAN management software, for $20 million. EMC said that Prisa’s software, which is optimized for managing small to medium SAN environments, further augments EMC’s ability to deliver automated networked storage capabilities. The Prisa purchase represents EMC’s eighth software acquisition in three years. In addition to revenue-generating products, the purchase also brings an established OEM distribution agreement with Dell. EMC said that Prisa’s management team and over 60 employees will continue to operate out of its San Diego offices.
“Prisa’s unique suite of software fits in perfectly with EMC’s AutoIS strategy and will allow EMC to expand its leading multi-vendor management solutions for the entry-level SAN management market,” said Erez Ofer, EMC’s Executive Vice President, Open Software Operations. “Prisa’s software provides customers in this segment with advanced Windows-based multi-vendorSAN management capabilities. This acquisition is an important addition to EMC’s family of Intelligent Supervision products and gives us a significant time-to-market advantage, as well as the ongoing efforts of Prisa’s very talented engineering team.”
Prisa software will initially be sold through existing OEM agreements with future plans for the open software to be offered through additional EMC channel partners and EMC’s sales organization. Dell’s established relationship with Prisa will help ensure a faster deployment of the technology for customers using Dell|EMC systems.
