, a leading provider of wire-speed IP-SAN remote connectivity solutions, announced today that the company has completed initial connectivity and interoperability testing with open-storage networking product developer

McDATA Corp. .

The SAN Valley SL1000 IP-SAN Gateway, made generally available in September, was tested with McDATA’s 3000 Series Fabric Switches, McDATA’s department-level fabric switches for enterprise accounts. Interoperability between these products provides customers with around-the-clock availability to data across long distances.

With the testing complete, IT managers are now one step closer to being able to connect enterprise-class Fibre Channel (FC) Storage Area Networks (SANs) over long distances using Internet Protocol (IP)-based networks, officials said.

The two companies view this initial interoperability testing as the first step towards more sophisticated interoperability and partnership efforts, added Jordan.

McDATA’s solutions enable customers to implement enterprise-class SAN infrastructure through the enterprise at all levels. As an integral segment of the McDATA full family of SAN solutions, the ES-3000 Series Fabric Switches provide department-level functionality.

SAN Valley’s IP-SAN platform offers wire-speed connectivity that extends storage networks across IP MAN and WAN infrastructures. The company’s SL1000 gateway product connects disparate Fibre Channel SANs across IP and optical networks, enabling customers to send secure data at wire speed over extended distances for SAN-to-SAN connectivity.
