VERITAS Software Corporation today announced that it has entered into a strategic relationship with Cisco Systems, Inc. to engage in joint delivery of next-generation storage networking solutions.
“VERITAS Software and Cisco are industry leaders in cross-platform storage software and IP networking solutions, and their close collaboration should expedite the delivery of next-generation networking solutions that embed storage intelligence,” said Steve Duplessie, founder and senior analyst, Enterprise Storage Group. “This is good news for companies looking to adopt emerging storage and networking solutions to help them efficiently manage, protect and deliver information services throughout their organizations and across the globe.”
“Cisco’s development approach has always been to incorporate more intelligence and manageability into the network, directly addressing the increasing complexity in customer IT environments,” said Mario Mazzola, chief development officer at Cisco Systems. “Cisco and VERITAS Software will be working closely together to extend this intelligence to storage networking, which will make storing, retrieving, and protecting critical data across widely distributed environments more efficient and cost-effective.”
Mazzola is one of the featured speakers at VERITAS Software’s annual users’ conference, VERITAS VISION2002, in Dallas, Texas.
“VERITAS Software is committed to extending our software architecture to new platforms throughout the enterprise, including into the network, through our VERITAS Powered(TM) program,” said Mark Bregman, executive vice president, product operations, VERITAS Software. “As customers look to incorporate storage capabilities into their enterprise networks, our strategic relationship with Cisco will deliver exciting new solutions from two industry leaders, and help to validate and catalyze a new market for storage solutions.”
