Wind River Systems, Inc. today announced that its Tornado(R) for Intelligent Network Acceleration (TINA) for iSCSI Initiators platform was named the winner for best networked storage technology, at the Best of Interop Awards competition during NetWorld + Interop (N+I) 2002. The judges for this prestigious award — editors from leading technology magazines including Network Computing, InformationWeek and EE Times — reviewed over 250 submissions overall and determined that Wind River’s TINA for iSCSI Initiators deserved the top honor based upon their rigorous evaluation.

“We are extremely pleased that TINA for iSCSI Initiators has been named a Best of Interop winner, and believe it signifies great opportunity for Wind River in the IP-based storage networking market,” said Glenn Flinchbaugh, director of marketing for Wind River’s Networks business unit. “Our customers are increasingly turning to iSCSI-based storage networking. This award serves as validation from industry experts that Wind River’s solution in this market is truly best in its class.”

By identifying innovative products debuted at N+I, the Best of Show awards assist in the quest for technology-enabled solutions. The Best of Interop judges recognize only a select few groundbreaking products each year that will significantly impact and enable the future of business. Products awarded this honor signify to IT executives and managers that they are the best solutions to support an efficient and competitive business.

“Every year we must review some of the best and most promising new technology solutions, and it is always challenging to determine the winner. Using our very thorough evaluation process, Wind River’s TINA for iSCSI Initiators was selected as a Best of Interop winner because it is the most innovative solution in the networked storage category,” said Ron Anderson, lab director for Network Computing and lead judge of this year’s awards.
