Double-Take (NASDAQ: DBTK) and Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) are partnering on a new offering that gives smaller businesses an easy disaster recovery option.

Double-Take Cloud combines the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) with Double-Take’s backup software to replicate data, applications and operating systems to the cloud and resume a workload from bare metal.

Customers can run their operations on Amazon’s cloud while restoring the original workload at their production site.

Double-Take CEO Dean Goodermote said he’s “not aware of anything else that allows customers to recover from the cloud and operate the whole system from there.”

Double-Take boasts more than 20,000 customers, primarily in Windows environments, but the company also supports Red Hat, SUSE and CentOS Linux. Goodermote sees Double-Take Cloud as a chance to add smaller businesses to that customer base.

Double-Take Cloud costs $150 a month per server, plus EC2 fees.
