SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The data storage company Veritas Technologies is rolling out the latest version of its backup software.
Veritas’ NetBackup 10 is a “cloud-optimized” data management product that incorporates automation for multicloud data protection at scale, according to Veritas last month.
The software is intended to deliver more cost-effective, efficient, and secure data management in multicloud environments.
Veritas believes that multicloud architectures create data management challenges, including unexpected costs, operational complexity, and increased vulnerability to cyber attacks.
NetBackup 10 is designed to help enterprises automate data management and is the foundation of Veritas’ Autonomous Data Management strategy.
The backup software features Veritas’ new Cloud Scale Technology, which was developed with “web-scale” IT technologies and techniques to provide “greater cloud agility,” while enabling elastic and auto-scaling data management.
“Enterprises are accelerating their cloud transformation to deliver new business outcomes where they need a broad and modern platform to cost effectively provide data protection and ransomware resiliency in multi-cloud environments,” said Deepak Mohan, EVP of products, Veritas.
“This new technology will continuously self-provision, self-optimize and self-heal data management services.”
Randy Kerns, senior strategist and analyst at Evaluator Group, said enterprise data management “must transform to meet the needs of multicloud infrastructures where customers have their critical data.”
“The result of transforming data management is lower total cost of ownership and improved return on investment.”
