Adaptec and Seagate today continued driving channel adoption of Ultra320 SCSI by providing the first complete solution to resellers for system prototype development, testing and evaluation.

“By bringing the first complete Ultra320 solution to resellers, Adaptec and Seagate are once again extending their technology and market-share leadership in the channel,” said Ahmet Houssein, vice president of Adaptec’s Storage Solutions Group. “Resellers count on Adaptec and Seagate’s channel leadership, proven products and robust technical support to accelerate migration to next-generation solutions.”

Powered by Adaptec’s Seamless Streaming(TM) technology, which maximizes Ultra320 performance by streamlining data and command packet processing, the solution delivers data transfer rates of 320 megabytes per second, double that of Ultra160. It also incorporates packetization and other key features to bolster overall system performance, data integrity and reliability. Designed for mainline storage, streaming video and audio, video editing and other bandwidth-hungry applications, the solution consists of the Adaptec SCSI Card 39320D, Seagate’s 147-gigabyte Cheetah 10K.6 drive, Adaptec Ultra320 cabling, software drivers, installation guides and product literature.

“The Adaptec SCSI Card 39320D ideally complements Seagate’s high capacity, high-performance 147-gigabyte Cheetah 10K.6 disk drive,” said Brian Dexheimer, Seagate executive vice president of worldwide sales, marketing, and customer service. “Users of Ultra320 SCSI-enabled storage systems will see improved throughput, higher storage capacity and lower ownership costs as more drives are added across the Ultra320 SCSI data pipeline.”

Top resellers such as MegaHaus are working closely with Adaptec and Seagate to accelerate the deployment of Ultra320 solutions.

“No other host SCSI storage solution vendors can match the product quality and technical support provided by Adaptec and Seagate,” said Donald Alyea, executive director, sales and marketing of MegaHaus. “We know Adaptec and Seagate will provide the quality solutions and full support we need to help satisfy our customers.”
