FalconStor Software, Inc. announced this week that QLogic Corporation’s line of SANbox2 switches and 2Gb SANblade Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs)have have achieved certified interoperability with FalconStor’s IPStor storage management software.

“The end-to-end 2Gb infrastructure that QLogic offers is the perfect platform to make storage virtualization a reality in the marketplace,” said Joseph Kimpler, director of business alliances, QLogic Corp. “The certification of IPStor with QLogic SANbox2 switches and 2Gb SANblade Fibre Channel HBAs assists us in our mutual goal of simplifying multi-vendor storage networks.”

Achieving dual fabric certification, FalconStor said IPStor eliminates single point of failure, increases security, and off loads storage services to Fibre Channel SANs. According to the company, IPStor offers active-active failover by configuring a pair of IPStor servers to form a high availability cluster, so that should one of them fail or need to be shut down for maintenance, its counterpart will take over the workload smoothly, without failing any I/O transaction.
