Solution-Soft Systems, Inc., a leading provider of Intelligent Data Optimization (IDO) solutions, and BiTMICRO Networks, Inc., the established pioneer in introducing innovative flash drive solid state disk storage solutions, today announced that they are joining efforts in identifying and resolving application input/output (I/O) and access time bottlenecks by deploying a best of breed, highly efficient integrated solid state disk (SSD) and storage management software solution.

The newly released Solution-Soft’s SafeCapacity-Hotfile(TM) will enable BITMICRO(R) E-Disk(R) solid state disk flash drive implementers to easily identify all of their most I/O intensive files residing on standard hard disk drive (HDD) systems and transparently migrate them to their E-Disk(R) solid state disk drive. The pass-through relocation capability is ideally suited for SSD deployment. BiTMICRO clients will be able to relocate I/O intensive files to E-Disk solid state disk storage devices, without disrupting their applications or environment.

SafeCapacity-Hotfile includes all of Solution-Soft’s standard SafeCapacity(TM) version advanced storage management features. These features will give BiTMICRO flash drive solid state disk users the added advantage of identifying older or seldom-used files that can either be migrated to other storage devices or compressed in place.

“SafeCapacity-Hotfile’s ability to clearly identify the most active files on a system, combined with its “pass-through” file access relocation, will provide an enormous benefit to our customers,” says Rudy Bruce, President of BiTMICRO. “When combined with BiTMICRO’s E-Disk solid state disk device, users will be able to continuously maintain optimum file I/O performance without having to reconfigure their applications.”

“SafeCapacity-Hotfile solves two major SSD deployment issues: which files to put on SSD and how to get them there without pain,” said Paul Wang, CEO of Solution-Soft. “It provides the further benefit of allowing customers to figure out how much SSD capacity is needed for a particular environment or work load,” added Wang.

On the other hand, BiTMICRO’s solid state disk storage devices deliver an all-electronic flash drive and solid state disk solution for data storage and protection, while providing the powerful performance and speed today’s data-intensive applications demand. They are drop-in replacement flash drive SSD, emulating industry standard 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch foot print HDD, available with IDE, SCSI and FC interfaces.

The current generation of E-Disk solid state disk devices provide up to 12,500 random IOPS and access times as low as .042 ms, 100% data integrity in case of power failure without using additional battery back up or HDDs, and offer the highest SSD scalability available today, 17.4 GB in 2.5″ and 77 GB in 3.5″ form factor. The E-Disk solid state disks feature patented FlashBus(TM) storage technology to speed performance, eliminate system bottlenecks, and offer durable, plug and play data storage for easy installation and start-up.

SafeCapacity-Hotfile combines advanced file system monitoring with policy-based configuration to continuously probe an application server’s file systems and seamlessly allocate or reapportion storage whenever needed. SafeCapacity-Hotfile optimizes storage by seamlessly load-balancing files across disparate storage medium eliminating I/O-bottlenecks and improving system performance by assigning individual files to their most appropriate storage.

Additionally, SafeCapacity-Hotfile decreases the need to over-provision storage resources on individual systems, thus reducing storage related costs. As opposed to management by crisis, SafeCapacity-Hotfile automatically notifies system administrators when problems occur and, based on pre-set rules, takes corrective action immediately. By automating capacity management, enterprises can greatly reduce total storage system ownership costs, thereby maximizing the return on investment.

Sun Microsystems’ Solaris is the first platform supported by SafeCapacity-Hotfile, with AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Windows 2000, and Windows XP planned or already under development.
