Backup and Disaster Recovery software manufacturer NovaStor today announced an updated release, version 8.1, of their Open File Manager software. This release debuts support for servers running Novell NetWare 6 and Novell Storage Services (NSS) 3.0.

According to NovaStor, the Open File Manager ensures full-time protection of critical files as part of a complete and accurate disaster recovery strategy. When customer files and databases are actively changing during a backup, Open File Manager enables NovaStor backup software to capture a complete and accurate backup of the data without interruption to the end user or the backup process.

Novastor says that until the release of Open File Manager v8.1, networks running any other backup software with Novell NetWare 6 risked the loss of critical data due to incomplete data backups. Support for Novell’s NetWare 6 and NSS 3.0 under NetWare 6 comes in addition to the existing support for the Legacy File System (LFS) on NetWare versions 4 and 5. NovaStor Open File Manager also offers the same data protection for Microsoft’s Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP platforms.

The Open File Manager product can be purchased separately as a plug-in for NovaStor’s NovaNET 8.5 and NovaNet-WEB network backup software. Workstation editions for Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP workstations start at $239 for a 5-User license. The Server and Advanced Server editions for Windows NT 4.0 & 2000 list at $599 and $834 respectively. The Server edition for Novell NetWare versions 4, 5 and 6 lists at $834.

A free demo of the software can be downloaded from NovaStor’s web site.
