VERITAS Announces Storage Clustering Solution

VERITAS Software Corporation today introduced VERITAS Global Cluster Manager(TM) 1.1, which, the company says, enables customers to simplify availability management tasks across the globe from a single console, and VERITAS Cluster Server(TM) QuickStart, which provides a two-node version of its clustering solution.

Building on its ability to perform worldwide application failover between VERITAS Cluster Server clusters in Solaris, Hewlett-Packard, and Microsoft Windows environments, VERITAS Global Cluster Manager 1.1, according to the company, now allows customers to manage VERITAS Cluster Server, VERITAS Cluster Server QuickStart, VERITAS Cluster Server Traffic Director and VERITAS Volume Replicator(TM) configurations in detail through a central console. VERITAS Software has also revealed plans for VERITAS Global Cluster Manager to support management of VERITAS SANPoint Control(TM), the industry’s leading heterogeneous SAN-management application.

Founded on the same core engine as the VERITAS Cluster Server, VERITAS Cluster Server QuickStart provides wizard-driven installation, configuration and management, resulting in simplified cluster management for two-node clusters. VERITAS Cluster Server QuickStart can be managed remotely from VERITAS Global Cluster Manager 1.1, and should the need arise, customers may upgrade to the full VERITAS Cluster Server solution through a simple license key change.

Version 1.1 of VERITAS Global Cluster Manager, available now, starts at $25,000 for a site master, and $10,000 for a cluster slave. VERITAS Cluster Server Quick Start will be available later in the third quarter, and pricing will be announced in July.
