Veritas Software Corp.

today announced a heterogeneous storage area network (SAN) implementation in its corporate data center. This new data center serves as a living showcase of the most advanced SAN technology in the market from Veritas Software and key technology partners Emulex, Hitachi Data Systems, McData, Quantum and Sun Microsystems.

It includes data protection, disaster recovery, storage virtualization, high availability and SAN management solutions that demonstrate a proven framework for organizations interested in building a SAN to support their mission-critical applications.

This state-of-the-art SAN enables servers to more efficiently use external data resources via a high-speed network of the most advanced storage networking components available. Data servers attached to the SAN can access data anywhere on a shared network, ensuring continuous data availability for every business system. Veritas software products allow administrators to monitor and manage these resources from a single console.

In addition to Veritas’ storage software, the SAN includes Sun Microsystems servers, Hitachi Data Systems storage arrays, McData directors, Emulex host bus adapters and Quantum tape libraries.
